About us
The house was discovered by the owners, who are lovers of the Bo-Kaap area, over 3 years before they finally acquired it. The property, rich with history and being over 120 years old, charmed them right away, yet it wasn’t possible for them then to fulfil their dream of owning it. In mid 2022, they re-discovered the home, and as fate would have it, this time, it would become theirs.
Immediately in love with the space, they knew the home showed incredible potential, but it required some love, research, and creative re-imagination to restore it to its former glory.
Today, Amina Boutique Hotel has gone through an entire restoration and boldly splashes the Cape Town skyline with its blue hues. It stands proudly as a haven for locals and travelers alike to enjoy. Amina is part of the Royva hospitality family, and each room has been artfully curated with a unique look and feel to be a little sanctuary in the middle of the city, offering an exceptional experience, personalized service and stunning views.
Designed for couples, friends and professionals from all walks of life to enjoy, packed with amenities and extremely secure, our guests have called it “their Cape Town home” – and that is exactly the idea – home away from home, in a hotel-style setting in the center of the city.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
You are in the ever-so-charming, blogger-loved, often posted about on social media, colourful and lovely Bo-Kaap - the oldest surviving residential neighborhood in Cape Town. In fact, Bo-Kaap's origins date back to the 1760s, and are rooted in Malaysian, African, Indian and Sri Lankan culture.
You are right in the middle of history!
Formerly known as the Malay Quarter, Bo-Kaap is situated at the foot of Signal Hill and is recognized by its distinctive pastel coloured houses and cobbled streets. Its location is amazing, being right on the fringe of the city centre while being footsteps away from trendy coffee shops, breakfast spots, and the heart of the city. Many argue that this district is actually the most central and up-and-coming in Cape Town.
You will be sure to enjoy the rich and multicultural history, close community, and friendly neighbors, which visitors often find fascinating and unforgettable. We can’t wait for you to experience it!
Things to See and Do Within 2 km
A five-minute walk from the city centre and De Waterkant, and a 20-minute walk to the V&A Waterfront. Explore the Islamic “kramats” (shrines), mosques, and food and craft markets, and discover the delicious Cape Malay cooking style which neighbors often serve from their doors. There is plenty to do around you and everything in the city is a short walk or drive away.
The Noon Gun - At 12pm every day, a cannon is fired off and heard across the city which indicates noon time. You can watch this daily ritual up on Signal Hill. Access can be gained right outside your door! Step out of the house and look right and you will see the sign guiding you to the Noon Gun! You can drive, yet many go for a run or walk as well.
